Jon Stewart Sucks
This article basically sums up what I've been feeling for some time now, that Jon Stewart has gone from funny to preachy. I can't stand preachy, especially when he's wrong 99% of the time. He's an idealist who loves government, but only when his party is in control. I don't understand him and people like him. They want more government and think it's the solution to everyone's problems, but then they complain that the government sucks when the other party is in control. They say stuff like, "If the Democrats/Republicans were in control it'd be totally different..." blah blah blah. How about they both suck and neither one of the major parties are doing any good for this country??? It seems like everyday we're getting farther away from what made this country great to begin with - pure and simple freedom! Not bailouts and welfare and behavior control. Seriouslah.

Atlas

Atlas Thomas Black Whitehead, my new and very cute son, has started a blog of his own. You can find it at http://atlas-w.blogspot.com. Since he's not quite of age yet, it's private. Send me or Jess an invite and we'd be happy to have you join in the fun, assuming we know you of course. Did I mention that I love him?

Atlas Shrugged
For those of you who've wondered where we got the name Atlas (for our soon-to-be-born boy), it was basically because of this book. I finished reading it a few days ago, and thoroughly enjoyed it. It most definitely has had an impact on my life and the way I think. I especially was intrigued by her (Ayn Rand's) ideas as they apply to political and moral philosophy. It's not light reading, but if you ever get the chance to read it, do it, and find out why it's known as the second most influential book of all time, behind only the Bible.

The Great American Justice System At Its Finest
Read this and become dumbfounded.
That judge is despicable. How she sleeps at night is beyond me.
But, it I guess it's a good thing she got him off the streets so he wouldn't shoot somebody or sell drugs to kids. You never hear about quadriplegics killing people and getting others high because they're actually really sneaky at it. Without our awesome drug and gun laws she would've had to let him go and who knows what kind of damage that would've caused!!
That last paragraph is sarcastic. The rest of it is not. Hope I didn't ruin your day.

7 Random Facts
I got tagged by Savannah, so I'm partially obliging by posting 7 random and/or weird facts about me but I'm not going to continue the fun because I'm a known chain-breaker (and I like it). If someone wants to do it as well though, feel free.
1. I can make my neck pop on command at least once or twice a day.
2. I once read almost the entire Microsoft Word manual....for fun.
3. I'm a night person and can stay up all night pretty much on command regardless of how tired I was that day.
4. I always wipe a phone off after talking on it.
5. I love to watch the credits after movies, especially in theaters, but nobody really obliges me unless they know there's a clip at the end.
6. I once listened to One by Metallica (the S&M version) for an entire month straight. I had the song on repeat and listened to nothing else. I was trying to get sick of the song and instead it turned into one of my favorite songs and now the beat is permanently stuck in my mind. I'll find myself humming or tapping the song even when I'm thinking about something entirely different.
7. I can say my ABC's backwards.

Proud to be an American?
After this recent election, I am not that proud (if at all) to be called an American. Not only did about 122,006,241+ people pick a bad choice for President (in my opinion), but 3 states have passed measures to ban gay marriage. Are we really that presumptuous? These people are good people. They have done nothing wrong to anyone. Yet, allowing them to marry under the state is such a travesty that we need to deny them that privilege? It truly sickens me to see how people treat other people that think or act differently when it does them NO harm whatsoever. I will say it again, GAY PEOPLE MARRYING WILL DO YOU AND YOUR FAMILY NO HARM WHATSOEVER. Letting people be free, treating them equally, with respect, and most importantly, treating them how you would want to be treated is the only good and proper course of action.
Note: This post was written with some time between the writing and the posting. During the transition, I happened upon a quote which I feel partially explains (to me) this hysteria and the results.
"Man, once surrendering his reason, has no remaining guard against absurdities the most monstrous, and like a ship without a rudder, is the sport of every wind. With such persons, gullibility, which they call faith, takes the helm of reason, and the mind becomes a wreck." - Thomas Jefferson

Neue Scheiße

It's been a long time since I've updated this thing. Life has been really good and really busy, and maybe someday I can post some more stuff about crap dealing with events and situations. For now, this will do.
Bad news: Sarah Brightman is doing a xmas album. I pretty much have little respect for people that do xmas albums, so now I'm put in an awkward situation because she is awesome. But now maybe she's not so awesome. And that sucks.
Good news: It's really late and I should be asleep but the latest Metallica album has been keeping me awake and it rocks. They FINALLY got rid of Bob Rock, the producer that almost ruined Metallica in my opinion, and now we can rock like the good ol' days. Hallefreakinlujah!!
More better news: Tomorrow I get to go discharge some firearms which should be pleasant. October I plan on going to Moab to bike. And November I plan on seeing Metallica live for the 4th time and I'm excited like a little kid.
Best news: If you haven't heard already, my beautiful wife, Jessica, is pregnant. Granted, it was a surprise but we'll roll with it and everyday I'm getting more excited about it. Baby Jesus (that's the name I've been lobbying for) should arrive in February sometime.

Some fun
So I finally discovered that other family members of mine have blogs that they didn't tell me about. Brindy had a sweet survey that Jessica and I wanted to also do, so here t'is. It's nice to relax now that school's out. Some more whacked out blogs are soon to come.

WHO SAID "I LOVE YOU' FIRST? Jessica
WHO IS TALLER? Tyson by FAR. not really though
